Slouching on a stained couch, eating stale popcorn underneath the broken air-conditioning unit of a casting session - something dawned upon us. Casting is horrible. Real people with real hopes, dreams and desires walk in - and are reduced to human headshots. In direct opposition to what we are taught by are grandparents, we judge solely on a skin deep level. The moment the model walks through the door we have decided. They either have the look or they don’t - as soon as they enter casting, they are cast out. Black line drawn across their face with a half chewed Bic pen.
We decided to document this harsh slap of rejection by creating a photobook containing all the rejected models from casting sessions (with their permission of course).
